Behind Henry’s House by Peter Guest
9 x 12
Peter Guest studied with Betty Warren and Dick Goetz at the Malden Bridge School of Art in upstate New York, and there he was introduced to the teachings of Henry Hensche. Peter went to Provincetown to study with Hensche on the recommendation of Warren and Goetz and he quickly grasped many of Hensche’s concepts. For several years Peter was Henry’s class monitor and he helped numerous students get their starts. He was also a very perceptive commentator during sessions when students brought their studies into the class studio.
After graduating from the University of Hartford art school he moved to Saratoga Springs NY with a detour to Byrum, Mississippi. During winter months Peter worked on still lifes that are notable for their atmosphere and beautiful color relationships.
He now lives in Petersburg, NY.
